Ireland.

Hey guys!

Guess where I am? Yeah, well, the title says it all! In Ireland!!! The weather was just adorable so far, and I really hope that I'll be able to go swimming ;)

(Anmerkung: Fuer Uebersetzung Deutsch-Englisch und vice versa ist http:\\dict.cc zu empfehlen)

My flight was okay, I was very nervous and clumsy at the check in. No, it's not the first time that I flew on my own, but the first time in a long time. And I had the hell of a lot of luggage! My travel started on monday, and since then I've been quite on my own. Which is nice, because I don't have to look after someone else's needs. And which is bad, because sometimes I'd like to talk to someone about what I see, and no one's there. Germany was okay, because I was staying with friends overnight. One of them had a very special cat. Willy. He's motorically disabled. He can't jump and he starts purring when you even look at him long enough. He's really cute. I played with him, and when he tried to chase the lace, he was toppling over all the time. But he didn't care. He just kept purrying and chasing.

The arrival in Dublin was not so nice. I felt light headed while being on the plane. This was a bit better, when we landed in Dublin. The bus driver had an foreign accent, not even an irish one, and I didn't understand what he said. He said 'Put the card on the circle', as I found out later. He got quite annoyed with me. And I with him (which I didn't show... As usual). So I felt really bad when we drove into Dublin. I didn't know where I'd be sleeping that night, because my friend didn't reply (she said she'd ask her friends from Dublin, whether I could stay with them). This was probably the first night in my life, where no one, not even I knew where I would sleep. Luckily, I got out at the right bus stop. And just one street behind, there was a Hostel. They had something free! What a release!!! But it was kinda dirty (Imagine, my linnen had shit on it!!!!) and I moved to another hostel, which really can be recommended. It's nice, clean and many women work here (that's probably why it's so clean). The staff is nice and helpful. So if you ever go to Dublin, go to Abbey Court Hostel ;)

Dublin itself is ugly. It's not really an Irish city, there are so many foreigners! And there is food from all over the world, but not much from Ireland. The city center got a great shopping street, at least if you earn a million or above. Nothing for backpackers. The Temple Bar area is the nightlife quarter, but it's dangerous during the night (could hear the sirens all night long), people get into fights. It's a very dirty city and some local people don't even smile when you sit into their restaurant and order something. But my impression so far is, that most of the Irish are very friendly. If I asked someone on the streets for some information, they were always friendly and helpful.

At Trinity College, where I took a stroll, I met a guy who's studying Dentistry. He wore a t-shirt 'Mr. Lazy' ;) He observed me taking pictures of the huge queue of people, waiting to see the book of Kells or something. That Book is one of the oldest books in Ireland, written in Gaelic, and, as 'Mr. Lazy' told me, one of the first books about Christianity. I asked him, whether it's annoying to have so many tourists on the campus (Trinity is one of the oldest Colleges in western Europe, founded in 1592). He said he wouldn't mind.

I further found out, that his favourite place in Ireland is Galway. Because it's easy-going, he said.

Another place, that was named by tourists I asked, was Dingle. In the magazine on the plane, there were pictures from Mayo (& Connemara), which looked grand.

Gotta go, see ya later ;)
